VANESSA'S BIO:
Vanessa Gilbertson is a 500 hour Yoga Alliance registered instructor. She has also completed
additional training in Prenatal, Postnatal, Restorative, Anatomy, Sequencing, Philosophy, Energy Bodies, Myofascial Release, PTSD/Trauma Informed Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Assisting, and is a Level 2 Reiki practitioner.
When I first started practicing yoga, as it seems with most people in our culture, I began withthe physical shapes and getting to know my breath. It didn't take long for me to begin to learn about Patanjali’s 7 limbs of yoga, one by one. The more I learned, the more I wanted to know; as a book lover, I naturally read anything I could find on the subject of yoga. However, simply knowing the theory, the philosophy, wasn't enough: yoga is called a practice because you must
simply live it to experience it. I work every day to bring mindfulness and gratitude to my everyday life using what I have learned through yoga.
Joining me you can expect to explore shapes and varying movement while maintaining awareness of your breath. Shapes are based on traditional Hatha Yoga postures with consideration for diverse bodies. Movement is geared to the participants’ mobility and, depending on the class, may be gentle and slow or more vigorous. Breathing, your lifelong companion, is imperative to your practice, allowing you to be present in the moment. I fully support and respect everyone’s individual practice: all I offer is a choice and if something does not resonate, for whatever reason, I encourage you to listen to your self and body first.
If you can breathe, you can yoga.
Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu.
