Reiki is Universal Energy, a spiritual healing art with its roots in Japanese origin. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. It is not massage nor is it based on belief or suggestion. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy.
Everything is comprised of energy, we are made completely of energy at the atomic level. If you look at our composition under enough magnification, you see that we are energy, as are all things on earth. Recently, science has set out to prove this theory in quantum physics, and has had great success.
According to practitioners, energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or possibly emotional pain. In time, these energy blocks can cause chronic pain, illness or disease.
Energy medicine aims to help the flow of energy and remove blocks in a similar way to acupuncture or acupressure, but does not involve any invasive forms of treatment. Improving the flow of energy around the body can enable relaxation, reduce pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness. Reiki opens up the energy channels and healing channels as it aligns our mental, emotional and spiritual self.
Reiki has no doctrine or agenda, it enhances the body's natural ability to transform itself through the balancing of energy. Reiki is applied with light pressure or without touching and since the energy is guided through a higher power it can do no harm.
Reiki goes where it is needed and is not in the control of the practitioner. The Practitioner is only a conduit for the energy to be delivered. There is medical and scientific evidence that shows that Reiki can reduce stress and anxiety, lower blood pressure, reduce pain and discomfort and much more. Reiki sessions usually last 45—60 minutes, for the most in dept session, but at In Harmony Meditation & Wellness Center, we offer various length sessions. Reiki is a great tool for stress reduction and relaxation. Many people use Reiki for wellness. It is not a cure for a disease or illness, but it may assist the body in creating an environment to facilitate healing, and has been known to have an immediate effect on managing chronic or sudden pain in the body. It can also be used to balance the chakras. Reiki is a great tool to use as a complement to traditional medicine and is practiced in many hospitals and medical care settings. "...less lower back pain..."
My Reiki session with Wendy was a very positive experience. I found her to be
professional, and I was relaxed and at ease throughout the session. The next day I noticed less lower back pain. I will most likely make another appointment." |
"I left feeling peaceful..."
"I wasn't sure what to expect from my first Reiki session, but I booked one anyway because all of the things I had been trying to do to clear my mind and relax were not working. I left feeling peaceful and I was able to sleep well for a whole week following my session! This is a big deal for me because I always have a hard time sleeping, often feeling like I don't sleep at all at night. I can't wait to go back for another session!"

"... a mix of physical and emotional help..."
"When I went to reiki, I needed help with feeling more stable. I was often on the verge of either anger or tears. It seemed like the pressures of my hectic job and life were continuously winding me up. I had knots in my shoulders and neck and back pain, and emotionally I was a wreck. I loved my experience. After an hour, I had almost fallen asleep and when it was time to leave, I felt a mix of physical and emotional healing had washed over me. I am so grateful. I will definitely go back, I'm thinking of making this part of my new 'get well' regime".
